On Friday the thirteenth Noise Central Festival celebrates its fifth edition,
with as its headliner no one less than the king of ‘cock rock disco’: Jason Forrest as DJ Donna Summer!

Cock Rock Disco – being a name that Forrest has used to describe his style of music– is also the name of a label, run by the man himself and releasing (experimental) electronica and breakcore of international artists such as Duran Duran Duran, Drumcorps, Doormouse, Dev/Null, Otto von Shirarch and, of course, DJ Donna Summer, Forrest’s alter ego.

As an electronic music producer Jason Forrest is known for his noisy experimental electronica and breakcore, incorporating many ideas of mash-up and rock and roll. Largely produced and performed on a single computer, his songs tend to be constructed from digital samples of found sounds and other artists' music (e.g. by The Who, Supertramp and Elton John); his videos for Steppin Off and War Photographer (directed by Joel Trussell) won several awards on international film and video festivals, have been widely viewed, downloaded and acclaimed.

Forrest was also one of the founders of the Wasted festival (http://www.myspace.com/wastedfestival) in Berlin, which started in 2005 and focuses on exciting shows by artists “blurring the lines between Breakcore, Punk, Rave, Grindcore, Gabber, Noise, and anything else.” Forrest has released on many labels (a.o. Mirex, Sonig, Irritant records, Omeko, Broklyn Beats) and, besides Cock Rock Disco, recently started another label of his own: Nightshifters – “a core group of musicians making prime-time oriented banging club tracks to get people raving.”

More total DJ Donna Summer craziness can be found at the in Berlin based "Birthday Parties". This night has been put together by the Birthday Party Crew, a bunch of Berlin music addicts, who launched their Birthday Party event-series in early 2007 as an initiative to put the fun back into clubbing.

Here how they describe it treir selves:
"What is a Birthday Party? A Birthday Party is when you get all your friends together in a sweaty room and dance to loud music and scream and shout and throw confetti and act as badly as possible. A Birthday Party is usually in a really dirty club and it is always more fun than going to a nice club. It’s cheap and sleazy. A Birthday Party is like that part in your favorite 80’s song you sing at karaoke mixed with that moment when you went to your first rave. A Birthday Party is just a bit of fun trash that keeps you alive.

http://www.birthdaypartyberlin.com

The Birthday Party happens in Berlin once a month at various locations and it’s free or very cheap and people usually bring their friends because it’s more fun that way. We usually play a wide range of extatic up-beat party-jamz, from blog-electro to old-school rave, to Baltimore house, to techno to hip-hop to mashup-rock jamz. It just has to be fun and it has to keep the party hype! The parties are usually free (or at least cheap), move to various locations around Berlin and pretty much fucking awesome!

So get ready for some Sex, Drugs and Fucking Noise at the celebration of the fifth Noise Central Festival,
Party Monster in the overdrive!
